Sinde Family – Athens, Greece

James, Christina, Amalia, Sofia, & Benjamin

James & Christina have been full-time missionaries in Athens, Greece since 2014. They are affiliated with BBFI (Baptist Bible Fellowship International). They have three children, Amalia, Sofia, & Benjamin.

They attended a one-year Bible program in Greece, accredited through Liberty University, from 2004-05, and attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO from 2005-07.

In Athens, they minister to Muslim refugees who are fleeing from the terrorism in countries such as Iran and Afghanistan.

“In the month of August, Greece experienced wild fires throughout the country. A few weeks ago, we had to evacuate our family, pets, and grab whatever documents we could as the fire had reached the mountain near our house. It was definitely an uncertain time for our family for 24hrs till we found out that through everyone’s prayers the Lord put a hand of protection around our home and neighbors. It’s hard to believe that not one leaf was burnt in our yard yet so many homes were burned down. This has given us a huge opportunity to help out in our community. We have met with families that have lost their homes and have absolutely nothing as the new school year begins for their kids. Please pray with us as we reach out to these families and try to help them. Also please pray for Cristina as she has developed a cough from the fire/smoke exposure.”

This August the main skeleton of the Mars Hill Church Building Project was completed. Please pray as they finalize the papers and move on. They are still in need of $75,000-$100,000 to finish the top floors.

A Word From James

Letter Update:

October-December 2022

Another Driver in our Family & First Mission’s Trip

Since our last prayer letter so much has happened. My wife and I flew back to the States in March to take our daughter, Amalia, to get her Drivers’ License. We are thankful for those who donated towards our tickets to make this trip possible. Another praise, Amalia got her Greek ID in order to travel by herself to go on her first Missions Trip this summer to help with a children’s camp at a church in the island of Zakynthos that the Dimakos help start. Please pray for protection and health and for the ministry there as the need is great.

Greek Easter

In April we celebrated Greek Easter with the church. We had a special event outside of Athens where we roasted a lamb and were blessed with many visitors. It was such a great turn out. Mr. George that we talked about in our last prayer letter actually came to this event which was amazing. Please pray that god will work in his heart.

Youth Outreach

God has continued to bless the Youth Outreaches. Though they have been attending special events it has been difficult to have the children come to church. This year we had our one year anniversary of the dedication of the building. We were surprised that some of the kids from the youth outreach came to church with their parents. Please pray that God will continue to open up doors and these families will get saved. We are praying this Summer that we will have many opportunities now that school is out.

Kids’ Education

First of all, we want to thank you for helping us every year with the cost of our kids’ education. Summer is here and we are preparing for the fall. Amalia will be a Senior this fall, Sofia 8th grade, and Benjamin will be going to 5th grade. It’s crazy to even think that this will be Amalia’s last year with us. Online School has given us the freedom to be more involved in ministry and giving the kids opportunities to grow and be involved as well. Amalia and Sofia, both help lead worship now. They love and are loved by our church family. Thank you for helping make this possible.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support,

-James & Cristina, Amalia, Sofia & Benjamin
