Letter Update:
Dearest Pastor and church family,
“Sister I need to share something with you…”
I saw the message on my phone and immediately my heart sank. The message came from one of the mothers of two of my r. higher whose husband has been very abusive in the past and has issues with addiction. Opening the message I saw two pictures. Drawn roughly in a notebook were all the books of the Bible, each in a square, and in several of the squares were little lines. Sister Heather, I just had to share this with you, I know you have been teaching on the books of the Bible and the importance of hiding God’s words in their heart. I’ve seen the homework you’ve sent home with them and know that you’ve been focusing on Bible reading, and I just wanted you to know what my kids are doing. They have made a game out of the Bible reading and are in competition with each other to see who can read more chapters than the other. Each chapter they read they put a mark in the box next to it and when they’ve finished reading that book they highlight the box.
Their father also saw the notebook, and asked them what they were doing, they shared with him that that they were trying to read the whole Bible and he should too. When he asked them what good it did to read an old book they both began sharing things they had learned, and how God still does miracle, and that they knew that one day God would dod a miracle in him. She went on the tell me that her children are making a difference in her home, and her husband is noticing, and watching. Wow! What a blessing!
I don’t know what God has in store for these tweens, but it has to be something special. To stand firm and share their faith with an abusive father takes tons of guts, but they did it and not just that one time. I pray that God will continue to work in their lives, and use them not only in their home but everywhere he might lead them.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers for the work here in Mexico. My health has been pretty bad again of late, and I hate that it limits the things I desire to do in God’s work, but I continue pushing through and know that God has the power to heal just as he healed while here on earth.
Thanks so much for your support!
