Woodworth Family – Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Eric and Ashley Woodworth & Their Three Children

The focus of Tegus Ministries is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Both accepted Christ as young adults in the summer of 2007. They soon were baptized and discipled in their local church, taking every opportunity to serve. Every small faithful “yes” to serving the Lord slowly grew from cleaning to helping to teaching and eventually assisting Pastor Josh Bevan and his wife, Candace, in planting Lighthouse Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio. Eric served on that staff from the summer of 2009 through December 2016. Both Eric and Ashley continued to grow and learn in ministry throughout their time in Xenia. During that time they also grew their family, being blessed with three awesome children: Joel, Owen, and Evelyn. Following the Holy Spirit’s prompting, the Woodworth’s surrendered to foreign missions and were approved as BBFI missionaries to Honduras in September 2016. In December 2018, they completed fundraising and moved to Costa Rica for one year of Spanish language training. After a short delay with COVID related travel restrictions, they moved to Tegucigalpa, Honduras in October 2020. Their desire is to organize new churches in the city of Tegucigalpa and disciple men and women in the Word of God.

Letter Update

Merry Christmas or, Feliz Navidad from your missionaries in Honduras! Traditions are different here than back in the United States. For one, we always get the joy of sharing a bit of what makes a traditional Thanksgiving meal with our Honduran brothers and sisters in Christ. Another big change for us is that Hondurans, along with pretty much all Central and South America, celebrate Christmas on the evening of the 24th, not the morning of the 25th. We ate pork tacos and tres leches cake and stayed up until midnight on the 24th, at which point there are lots of fireworks all over the city! Although the ways we celebrate may be different, Who we celebrate will always be the same. Jesus is the Christ and the hope for the world! Thank you for partnering with us by praying and giving financially to help us reach the Honduran people with the precious Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through all the ups and downs, blessings and challenges, we saw God work among us this past year and for His glory people have been saved, baptized, united with the church, and have grown deeper in their knowledge of the Lord.

We had three more people join the church after being baptized in December!

The Christ-like attitude of humility and service to others is growing amongst the people of the church.

We observed the Lord’s Supper this past month which is always a special moment.

Sharing turkey sliders with stuffing and cranberry sauce with our church family — there were no leftovers!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Woodworth Family!
